Basic Facts:
Flat-leafed grasses with coloured leaves in summer
Garden Use:
Good for mass-planting or as a highlight plant.
Spreads gently by underground shoots making a good sized clump.
Cultivation:
Well-drained soil and some moisture in summer is best - so dig-in plenty of compost. Cut off old foliage in late winter / early spring.

Japanese Blood Grass. Low growing (up to 18in / 45cm but usually less) with striking red leaves in summer. Protect crowns in very cold areas.
